E-Commerce support for local employers

The boom in Digital Technology is really accelerating, helping local employers to make the most of staffing resources and to manage their operations during the pandemic. In addition, the new pattern of staff working from home can help to increase productivity and reduce employer costs.

Given the above, we have identified training opportunities for existing and new employees to help businesses manage the current situation and add capacity moving forwards.

1. Digital Skills for Work Level 1 and 2

Free courses for employees aged 19 and over, meeting qualifying criteria.

Entry level 6-week online programmes, teaching the effective use of digital skills at Level 1 and Level 2 below including:

1. Using a computer; Finding and using information; Safety and security when using data and digital devices; Communicating and collaborating online; Using word processing software; Developing a Digital career.

2. Understand how to protect devices and data; Communicate socially and professionally
using technology; Apply digital skills in personal and business situations; Use digital resources to facilitate carer progression.

2. Data Protection and Data Security

Free courses for employees aged 19 and over, meeting qualifying criteria.

10-week online programme helps to understand data protection and data security including:

• Current data protection legislation
• Organisational procedures concerning data
• Threats to ICT systems and data
• Understand the consequences of not protecting data

3. European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL)

ECDL is equivalent to a GCSE in IT and is known as the benchmark in digital and IT user skills. It covers use of Microsoft Office including Powerpoint and spreadsheets. It is seen as a highly desirable qualification, recognised and respected by employers and education establishments.

The Course takes 12 weeks to complete and is free, subject to eligibility criteria.

4. Digital Marketing Apprenticeship

(Level 3) – 18 months.
Government Incentive Grants available for new employees.

This apprenticeship is suitable for new and existing employees using online and social media platforms to design, build and implement campaigns and drive customer sales.

5. Digital Support Technician Apprenticeship

(Level 3) – 18 months.
Government Incentive Grants available for new employees.

This apprenticeship is suitable for new and existing employees to maximise the effective use of digital office technologies, productivity software, digital communications, including collaborative technologies, and digital information systems to achieve objectives.

6. Junior Content Apprenticeship

(Level 3) – 12 months.
Government Incentive Grants available for new employees.

This apprenticeship is suitable for new and existing employees responsible for developing and creating content that can be used across a variety of media including digital, social media, broadcast or in print.

7. Data Analysis Apprenticeship

(Level 4) – 24 months.
Government Incentive Grants available for new employees.

This apprenticeship is suitable for new and existing employees responsible for collecting, organising, and studying data to provide business insight. Data analysts are typically involved with managing, cleansing, abstracting, and aggregating data, and conducting a range of analytical studies on that data.
