Environmental Volunteering at Aylestone Meadows
There are some exciting new work experience opportunities at Aylestone Meadows for individuals looking to gain experience in environmental work. The work being carried out will include removing some of the self-set willow trees to create natural river bank protection and installing live tree roots into the channel to improve habitats. This work will involve making some timber ground anchors away from the main working area and potentially removing sections of existing boardwalk ready for new sections. In short the work experience being provided will be quite hands-on and practical but will give an interesting insight into this industry. The work experience will run 9-5 daily and we are looking for individuals that would be able to do a week at a time.
The site is also offering opportunities for budding photographers that would be able to document the delivery of the site and prepare a short report on its progress
